Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, issued a direct apology during a shareholders’ meeting regarding recent controversies over violations of the Farmland Act and mislabeling of product origins.

At 10 a.m. on the 28th, Baek attended the regular shareholders’ meeting held at The Born Korea headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with a solemn expression, offering his apologies to the shareholders.

As he entered the meeting room, Baek shook hands and greeted each shareholder individually. Although reporters asked questions about the controversies, he did not respond and proceeded directly into the meeting room.

In his opening remarks, Baek said, “Despite achieving the best performance since our founding, I sincerely apologize for causing great concern and disappointment to our shareholders due to the recent issues,” bowing his head.

Jeong Seok-won, another executive at The Born Korea, also entered the meeting room earlier that day and gave a brief response to related questions, saying, “I have nothing to say,” before moving to his seat.

The Born Korea has recently faced public criticism over alleged violations of the Farmland Act and Food Sanitation Act. On the 13th and 19th, Baek posted public apologies on the company’s website, stating, “I sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused by the recent controversies involving me.”

He further added, “All executives and employees of The Born Korea are taking the current situation very seriously, and we will make our utmost efforts to prevent recurrence and restore our image through company-wide innovation.
